In this spirit, Discovery is proud to partner with government, educational and nonprofit organizations throughout the world that foster curiosity and help people explore, understand and enjoy our world. Through both direct contributions and in-kind support to our partners, Discovery helps to provide educational programs in underserved areas, promote the diverse voices and inspiring work of documentary filmmakers, and preserve and celebrate the natural wonders of our planet.

Discovery Channel Global Education Partnership

Discovery’s premier partnership, the Discovery Channel Global Education Partnership (DCGEP) is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to using the power of television in under-resourced schools around the world to improve student learning, teacher effectiveness, access to information and community involvement in the schools. Over the past 12 years, DCGEP has delivered educational opportunities to more than 700,000 children. Through partnerships with Discovery, Chevron and the Coca-Cola Africa Foundation, DCGEP now operates 241 learning centers in 16 countries.

AFI-Discovery Channel SILVERDOCS Festival

The annual AFI-Discovery Channel SILVERDOCS Festival is the world’s leading international documentary film festival, honoring excellence in filmmaking, supporting the diverse voices and free expression of independent storytellers, and celebrating the power of documentaries to improve our understanding of the world. SILVERDOCS also features a renowned Documentary Conference, an unprecedented gathering of filmmakers, industry leaders, distributors, private and public media and members of the philanthropic community.

Petfinder.com Foundation

The Petfinder.com Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to saving the lives of homeless pets through adoptions, helping shelters prepare for and recover from disaster, and working to make shelters across the U.S. more sustainable. The foundation supports thousands of animal welfare organizations that are members of Petfinder.com (a Discovery Communications company) through direct funding, training, education and grants of equipment and supplies.

National Park Foundation Films

Discovery is proud to have partnered with the National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks, to produce 14 one-of-a kind high-definition documentary visitor films. Today, these “Park Docs” films help to inspire and enlighten visitors in more than 100 National Parks throughout the U.S.

Flight 93 National Memorial

In 2002, the U.S. Congress passed the Flight 93 National Memorial Act designating the crash site of Flight 93 near Shanksville, Pa., as a national memorial commemorating the events of September 11, 2001. The Flight 93 National Memorial will be the nation’s permanent tribute to the heroism of those whose incredible acts of bravery saved countless lives at the cost of their own. Discovery is proud to support the National Parks Foundation’s efforts to establish this memorial by donating 100% of the proceeds from DVD sales of THE FLIGHT THAT FOUGHT BACK, a ground-breaking Discovery Channel program reconstructing the events of Flight 93, to the memorial campaign.

Pearl Harbor Memorial Fund

Discovery is proud to partner with the Arizona Memorial Museum Association and its Pearl Harbor Memorial Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization, to sponsor the building of the new Pearl Harbor Museum and Visitors Center at the USS Arizona Memorial in Honolulu, Hawaii. The new museum and visitor’s center will serve as a vital link to current and future generations as a reminder of the great sacrifice by our countrymen on December 7, 1941. It will be a tribute, an archive, a museum and a classroom for all who visit.

Strathmore Hall Foundation

Since 1981, the Strathmore Hall Foundation, Inc., an independent 501(c)(3) organization, has operated an arts center in Bethesda, Md., presenting a lively and diverse program of art exhibitions, concerts and performing arts programs, and literary lectures and events. Discovery is proud to be a sponsor of the Music Center at Strathmore Hall, helping to provide affordable, accessible, multi-disciplinary arts programming to the local community, as well as exciting performances from renowned musicians.
